Blogmas Day 24 – Christmas Eve

Boy oh boy it is Christmas Eve and this blogmas journey has been a long one.

Well… technically I am writing this on December 2nd but it has taken me a while to come up with ideas and actually complete them. I have been working and scheduling blogmas posts for about a month now. I wanted as many posts as I could do checked off my list by the second week of December, that way I could start on my January posts.

For today’s post I wanted to share my families Christmas Eve tradition. I’m not sure how long it has been a tradition but I know it started before I was born (1986).

Blogmas Day 20 – Elf on the Shelf

The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition is a 2005 children’s picture book, written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell, and illustrated by CoĆ« Steinwart. The book tells a Christmas-themed story, written in rhyme, that explains how Santa Claus knows who is naughty and nice. It describes elves visiting children from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, after which they return to the North Pole until the next holiday season. The Elf on the Shelf comes in a keepsake box that features a hardbound picture book and a small scout elf. The authors say the story is from a family tradition started by Carol Aebersold for her twin daughters, Chanda Bell and Christa Pitts in Georgia, USA.

Blogmas Day 19 – Holiday Make Up Inspo

Only a few more days until Christmas you guys!

Blogmas is almost over and I for one can’t believe that I am making it through it. I have started blogs before but I have never gone this long actually posting. Maybe I will talk about that later but for right now I just wanted to do a simple little post with some holiday makeup inspirations.

I, like many, turn to Instagram (or YouTube) from inspiration when it comes to makeup. Granted most of the pictures are filtered and set up to be the ideal and can be unachievable by regular old me. However, that doesn’t stop me from being inspired to make my own look.

Blogmas Day 17 – 5 Christmas Cookies We Love

To be completely honest with you guys I usually don’t make cookies from scratch anymore. Most of the time when Sean wants cookies I don’t have the time to make them from scratch because he requests them the day before he wants them… at like 5 p.m. So usually I make cookies out of those bags of mix, which you do have to add stuff to and still bake but it isn’t truly homemade.

The time of year that the cookies are homemade is of course Christmas! And I would like to share the 5 cookie recipes that we always use.

Blogmas Day 16: Christmas With A Theme

So growing up being the oldest sibling I used to hear other adults ask my mom and dad all the time “How do you keep the magic of Christmas alive?” I never knew what they meant before until I got older and had a step daughter and younger siblings that were wayyyyyy older then my daughter and suddenly I understood the question… How do you keep the magic of Christmas alive when you have children that still believe in Santa and magic and children that have stopped believing? Thats the age old question I get now since we all live together “How do you make it so everyone believes in Santa” and my answer as of last year when I figured it out is this… Christmas with a Theme!

Blogmas Day 12 – Spritz Cookies

In recent years I have found that there aren’t many people in my generation and younger that know what a spritz or press cookie is. It is literally a device that you press cookie dough out of to make small bite size cookies into little cute shapes. It is a little bit of an old fashioned tradition to make spritz/press cookies but it is one I intend to keep.

Surprisingly, Sean’s favorite cookie is the plan Jane almond spritz cookie. It is the most basic of all the spritz cookie recipes out there and he loves dipping them in coffee.
