Monthly Obsessions – July 2020

It’s that time again where I share my monthly obsessions!

First I am starting with three items all from the same brand, Sol De Janeiro. I first encountered this brand in one of my FabFitFun boxes a few years ago. I have to say that I didn’t really like the original products from Sol De Janeiro but when they came out with the Coco Cabana line I loved it. Here are my first three monthly obsessions.

Coco Cabana Cream $10 – $45

This cream is amazing! I love the small, which doesn’t fade. It comes in three sizes; purse size 25ml $10, travel size 75ml $20, and full size 240ml $45.

The website describes the scent of this cream as; “deliciously complex coconut scent with Brazilian-inspired notes of coconut cream from young green coconuts, tropical orchid and toasted praline.”

YouTube Spotlight: RawBeautyKristi

It has been over 8 months since I did a YouTube Spotlight and I thought it was time to do another one. So today I wanted to feature RawBeautyKristi!

I have been watching Kristi for about 4 years, when she did a lot of Halloween make up tutorials. Over the years she has developed her channel into more of the standard makeup review and get ready with me kind of channel. Kristi has also included some of the trials that she has gone through in her life and makes you feel like you are best friends even though you’ve never met.

My number one favorite video by Kristi is a Halloween transformation where she turned herself into Guy Fieri. Kristi is hilarious in all the things she dose and this video is number one for me.

Drugstore Makeup Tag

Recently I watched a video by Jessica Braun with this Drugstore Makeup Tag and at the end she said that she put the questions in the description for others to blog or make a video. I have to say that I hadn’t even thought about blogging about tags that are usually used for YouTube.

So, today I’m going to share the Drugstore Makeup Tag…

  1. If you could only use one drugstore/affordable brand, what would it be?
    • E.L.F., this brand has very affordable options that are of higher quality than many other drugstore brands out there. They have products ranging from makeup to skincare and many other items in between.
  2. What’s the most underrated drugstore/affordable brand?
    • I would have to say that my answer in the same as number one. E.L.F. has stepped up their products over the years and has become as good if not better than other drugstore brands in the last few years but have kept it affordable.

Summer Hairstyles

Who here hates having their hair down in the summer? *raises her hand*

Who is also tired of the same old ponytail and messy bun? *raises her hand*

With that said, I can’t really do much else with my hair because I just never learned and I’m not really coordinated enough to do some stuff. Sometimes I watch YouTube videos of hair tutorials 20 times and I still can’t get my hair, or my hands, to do what is supposed to be happening. So I want to share some of the summer hairstyles I have found around the web that I wish I could do with my hair.

Monthly Obsessions

Every month or so I do a post about my current beauty faves or current lifestyle faves but I wanted to combine those into a monthly obsessions post. Because I write on this blog I try to mix up products I am using so that it’s not just repeat after repeat on these kinds of post. Combining the beauty faves and lifestyle faves posts into one monthly obsessions post makes it easier because I’m not able to mix up what I’m trying more.

So lets start with some lifestyle faves and then beauty faves.

MyFitnessPal and Map My Walk

Both of these apps are what I am currently using to track my weight, food, and activity. I have made posts about WW and I still follow that program but in addition to that I am tracking my calories with MyFitnessPal. In addition to that I am also mapping my walks with the Map My Walk app to get accurate distances and times for my walks.

Current Beauty Faves + Updates

Today I thought I would do a little current beauty faves and some updates on my Current Beauty Faves post from October. As I learn more about beauty, hair care, and skin care I will be trying new things. I want to try to do a faves and updates every three months. My last beauty faves list was centered around make up and a couple skin care items. This time my list is shorter and isn’t just make up centered.

Current Beauty Faves

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides $43.00

I have been using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for a few years and I 100% see a difference in my hair and skin. The standard serving is two scoops but I only do one and still see a difference in the way my hair grows and the way my joints feel.

The reason I started introducing collagen into my every day routine was for skin elasticity during my weight loss journey.

Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides are easily digested and soluble in cold or hot liquids. Adding a scoop of Collagen Peptides to food or beverages gives you the boost you need to support healthy hair, skin, nails, bone and joint health, muscle recovery, and more.

Blogmas Day 19 – Holiday Make Up Inspo

Only a few more days until Christmas you guys!

Blogmas is almost over and I for one can’t believe that I am making it through it. I have started blogs before but I have never gone this long actually posting. Maybe I will talk about that later but for right now I just wanted to do a simple little post with some holiday makeup inspirations.

I, like many, turn to Instagram (or YouTube) from inspiration when it comes to makeup. Granted most of the pictures are filtered and set up to be the ideal and can be unachievable by regular old me. However, that doesn’t stop me from being inspired to make my own look.

YouTube Spotlight: Jessica Braun

Back in September I spotlighted one of my favorite YouTubers and wanted to continue this series with Jessica Braun, also known as JAMbeauty89.

I came across Jessica and her husband Tyler, also known as TylerTravelsTV, only a few years ago. Jessica was mostly a beauty channel but has slowly moved into a beauty and lifestyle channel in combination with vlog that are mostly posted on Tyler’s channel.
