Dear Dad

I wanted to share with you a little about my father and why not do it on fathers day.

This is my favorite picture of my dad and I from about 19 years ago. We were in Seaside Oregon for the 4th of July, a place that I have gone off and on through my life with family. I don’t know if this was the first year he came with us but it’s the first one I remember.

Chance came into my life when I was a teenager when he started dating my mom. I hadn’t had much luck with any ‘father’ figure in my life before but that changed once he came into our lives. So this post is for him.

Dear Dad,

Thank you. Thank you for being the best dad even though you didn’t have to be. Thank you for stepping up and treating me as if I was your own flesh and blood. Every child deserves a dad like you that cares, comforts and would move the Earth for you if he could. I have gone through some really hard mental battles and you still stood right there with me, unwavering. I never had to guess if you would be there for me like I did with other “fathers” in my life. You showed me how a dad is supposed to be.

Thank you for being my dad. Love Courtney
