Classic Sunday Dinner

Have you ever seen those chaotic yet warm and inviting movie scenes where the family is gathered around a large dinning room table. Everyone is smiling as they interact, sharing their latest news while passing around food. This scene used to be a very common occurrence only a few decades ago but is now more common in t.v. and movies.

In the last year or so I have started to bring the classic Sunday dinner back into our family and I wanted to share some of the basic recipes that my family has loved.

Soft Sweet Dinner Rolls

These soft sweet dinner rolls by Joyful Homemaking are a must have at our Sunday dinners. Sweet pillowy yeast rolls go with almost any dish including the ones below.

Swedish Meatballs

Our favorite meal at Ikea! It is also a crowd pleaser on Sunday nights. I do have to admit that this dish is a little more time consuming but it is well worth it in the end.

Beer Braised Beef with Carrots and Potatoes

This hardy dish is definitely a fall staple when it comes to family dinners! Cooking for 2 hours in a dutch oven at 300 F makes the meat and vegetables fork tender. Add a little more liquid for more of a soup!

Peachy Pecan Crumb Pie

Who doesn’t love dessert! This pie is another love of my family. The peachy pecan crumb pie is a great transition from summer to fall.

Old Fashioned Lemon Icebox Pie

A fresh and crisp lemon pie is ideal for every summer dinner table. My family really loved this for our annual summer pool party.

These great recipes work for any family looking to start or continue the Sunday dinner tradition.
